SPARKS, Md. – There is a strong Yale presence at a training camp at USA Lacrosse Headquarters for the U.S. sixes team this week.
Andy Shay is the U.S. Men's Sixes National Team head coach, and he is joined by three of his former players at the camp –
Matt Brandau '24, Jackson Morrill '21 and Brian Tevlin '21.
A combination of the top young stars in the Premier Lacrosse League and recent NCAA standouts make up the core of the 23 men's lacrosse players invited to the training camp as USA Lacrosse begins the build-up to the 2028 LA Olympics.
Brandau (Philadelphia), Morrill (Maryland) and Tevlin (California) are all playing professionally in the PLL.
Shay is back for his second stint working with the U.S. men's sixes program. He led the U.S. sixes team to silver medal at The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Ala. Shay is assisted by Tony Resch, a former champion player and coach with the U.S. team who also has an extensive record of success in professional lacrosse.
Brandau and Tevlin were a part of the USA's 2022 World Games team.
The training camp will be held from June 10-12 and will feature a public session on Tuesday, June 11 at 4 p.m. with no admission charge.
This is the only training camp for the sixes team before a camp just ahead of the inaugural USA Lacrosse Experience in Indianapolis from Oct. 11-12, 2024. The U.S. sixes team will play against international competition during that event.
