NEW HAVEN, Conn. – First-year Ava Poinsett was named unanimous Ivy League Rookie of the Year, while junior Laurece Abraham earned All-Ivy First Team and classmate Arya Jue was selected to the second team, the league office announced on Thursday.

In addition, team Halle Sherlock earned the Academic All-Ivy award for the second straight year.

Poinsett, an outside hitter from San Diego, Calif., also earned unanimous All-Ivy First Team after being selected Ivy League Rookie of the Week six times during the regular season.  Poinsett finished the Ivy season ranked tied for first in service aces per set (0.44), second in the league in kills per set (3.55), and third in points per set (4.12). 

Abraham, a middle from Canton, Mich., was selected to an All-Ivy team for the third straight season.  Abraham, who won Ivy League Player of the Week twice during the season, finished second in the conference in hitting percentage (.430), sixth in blocks per set (0.96), ninth in kills per set (2.83) and 10^th in points per set (3.55).

Jue, a libero from Marietta, Ga., earned All-Ivy accolades for the second straight year.  Jue led the Bulldogs and finished third in the conference in digs per set (3.80).  Jue had 12 or more digs in 12 of her 14 Ivy League matches this season and the led the Bulldogs with a career-best 285 digs. 

Sherlock, a setter from Fort Worth, Texas, leads the team with 468 total assists.  In addition, she has 115 digs and 37 kills with a .333 hitting percentage.

The Bulldogs will look to defend its three straight Ivy League Tournament championships this weekend.  Yale, the No. 3 seed, faces two seed Cornell in a semifinal match on Friday at 7 p.m. in Princeton, N.J.
