Last Game
Yale
fell to Loyola (Md.) 73-48 on Sunday at Lee Amphitheater. The Bulldogs led 27-26 at halftime but were undone by the Greyhounds' 24 point third quarter. Sophomore guard
Ciniya Moore (Bradenton, Fla.) led Yale in scoring with 11 points. First-year forward
Dorka Kastl (Budapest, Hungary) led Yale in rebounds with six and blocks with four. That was the most blocks in a game by a Bulldog since
Mackenzie Egger '25 blocked four against BU Dec. 29, 2024.
Moore, Vydrova Among Ivy League Leaders
A pair of Bulldogs can be spotted among the Ivy League leaders in various categories. Sophomore guard
Ciniya Moore (Bradenton, Fla.) is fourth in scoring (15.0 points per game) and tied for fifth in free throw percentage (.882) and steals (1.8 per game). Junior forward
Luisa Vydrova (Prague, Czech Republic) is eighth in the league in field goal percentage (.511), tied for eighth in assists (2.5 per game), ninth in rebounding (6.3 per game) and tied for 10th in blocked shots (0.7 per game).
Hitting the Road
This week marks the start of a stretch in which Yale will play six road games in a seven-game span. The Bulldogs will travel approximately 2,800 miles, including a brief six-mile round trip to the University of New Haven (game on Dec. 8) and a 600+ mile return trip from High Point (game on Dec. 20) to conclude the stretch.
Odume Rising
Sophomore guard
Ke'iara Odume (Syracuse, N.Y.) has more than doubled her scoring average from last season (to 8.33 points per game from 4.15). She has already exceeded her assist total from last season (seven so far this year, six last year). And she has the fewest turnovers on the team among players with more than 130 total minutes (14).
Chapman Puts in Work at Charity Stripe
Sophomore guard
Marisa Chapman (Middletown, N.Y.) has made a dramatic improvement in her free throw shooting. After shooting .500 (18-for-36) last year, she is at .846 (11-for-13) this year. She is tied for second on the team in free throw shooting percentage and is a big reason why Yale has improved its team free throw shooting percentage from .662 last year to .738 this year.
International Flavor
In addition to eight different U.S. states, the Yale roster includes players from four foreign countries:
Scouting American
American (1-4, 0-0 Patriot League) has dropped four in a row since opening the season with a 66-63 win vs. Delaware State. The Eagles are in their first season under head coach Kelly Killion, who spent the previous nine seasons at Penn – rising from assistant coach to associate head coach and serving as the Quakers' recruiting coordinator. The Eagles went 1-29 last season, beating Lafayette for their lone win.
Scouting Penn State
Penn State (4-1, 0-0 Big Ten) wraps up its stint at the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas on Monday, facing San Diego State. The Nittany Lions fell to Princeton 100-93 at that tournament on Saturday, snapping a four-game winning streak. Penn State ranks sixth nationally in field goal percentage (.521), seventh nationally in three-point percentage (.410) and eighth nationally in assists per game (21.0).
