NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Laura Ricciardone, Head Coach of Softball, has announced that senior Emma Taylor has been elected captain for the 2025 season.

"I am thrilled that Emma has been elected captain of this team," said Ricciardone. "She commands the respect of everyone she crosses paths with because of who she is. For the last three years, she's been the prime example of work ethic, determination, and consistency in everything she does. She will continue to embody those same qualities as our captain, and Yale Softball is better for her leadership and example."

Taylor has been a mainstay for Yale in the circle. She has made 83 appearances and 66 starts in her three-year career, amassing more than 373 innings pitched. She currently ranks ninth all-time in program history in strikeouts (226) and seventh in wins (28).

"I'm honored and grateful to be recognized by my teammates as captain," said Taylor. "It's a privilege to represent our program, Yale Athletics, and the university as a whole. I look forward to working with my teammates to continue building a winning culture this spring."

In 2024, Taylor earned second-team All-Ivy honors and was named both Academic All-Ivy and College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District.
