PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Yale women's sailing team continued its dominance this weekend, winning its fourth consecutive regatta of the Spring season.
The Bulldogs won the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race Trophy, which was held at Brown. On Saturday, the wind came out of the north-northwest and ranged from 7-15 knots with puffs up to 22 knots. Sunday was a bit lighter, and the breeze died off throughout the day. Skippers Mia Nicolosi, Carmen Cowles, and Emma Cowles sailed with crews Ximena Escobar, Sarah Moeder, Julia Miller, and Jessi Avila-Shah. The team sailed undefeated in the round-robin and then raced with the other top-three teams twice, where they lost twice to Stanford, finishing with a 13/2 record.
The coed team finished second at the Marchiando Trophy-Grey Regatta held on the Charles River. It was a cold and windy day on the water on Saturday, with the wind ranging from 7-18 knots out of the East-northeast with a bit of snow. Sunday brought similar wind conditions out of the East. Skippers Jack Egan, Stephan Baker, and Alex Adams sailed with crews Elle Sykes, Ashley Highland, and Annabel Woodworth, and Nathan Sih skippered and crewed. After sailing three round robins, the team finished with a 16/5 record.
The coed split squad also competed at Tufts and faced shifty conditions on Mystic Lake. On Saturday, the wind came out of the Northeast, holding consistently at about 10-12 knots with gusts up to 17 knots. Sunday was a bit lighter and shiftier with the breeze coming from the East, which kept the sailors on their toes since the wind direction changed constantly throughout the course. Skippers Dorothy Mendelblatt, Mathias Reimer, and Audrey Foley sailed with crews Clara Díaz Suárez, Ariana Borut, and Mary Madaus. The team placed fifth and finished with a 9/9 record.
Next weekend, the Bulldogs will host the Yale Women's Team Race and will have teams traveling to the NEISA Open Team Race Championship, Mystic Team Race, and Emily Wick Trophy.
