Bulldogs Compete at Penn Relays, UMass

AMHERST, Mass; PHILADELPHIA — The last regular season competition for many on the Yale men's track and field team did not disappoint. The Bulldogs made full use of the great conditions Friday to achieve good results on the first day of the Ken O'Brien Pre-Conference Meet at UMass. Further south, the throwers contested day two of the Penn Relays. This sets the Bulldogs up well as Heps draws nearer.

  • The action began on the track in the 1500 meters. Sophomore Guy Stevens placed first overall with his time of 3:50.69. Senior Jack Sendek had a strong race to come home in 3:55.16. Junior Kenan Pala ran his debut 1500 meters, achieving a time of 3:56.91. Sophomore Liam Sullivan set a new PR with his time of 4:02.66.
  • First-year Camden Hickox raced the 400 meters, placing first in his heat with his time of 50.37.
  • The Bulldogs put on a show in the 100 meters, taking three of the top five spots. Senior Cristian Pereira placed second in 10.65. Junior Andrew Farr and senior Jacob Kao both ran 10.79, placing fourth and fifth respectively.
  • Sophomore Antonio Bravo set a big PR of 1:53.33 in the 800 meters to place third.
  • The Bulldogs performed well in the 200 meters. Senior Kit Colson ran a great race to come home third in 21.36, a new PR. Kao and Pereira ran 21.54 and 21.65 respectively.
  • Junior Alex Mader tested himself over the 5,000 meters, placing first in 14:44.44. Junior Will Sheehy was fourth overall in 14:56.55.

  • Day two of the meet allowed the throwers to return for the discus throw. Junior Nolan Recker and sophomore Nathan Lebowitz both threw in this event. Lebowitz threw an excellent series to place first with a new PR of 54.69 meters. Recker placed fifth with his second-round throw of 49.27 meters.  
 
Up Next: 
  • Penn Relays action continues for the Bulldogs Saturday, with the Elis fielding teams in the 4x800 and 4xMile relays. They will face some of the best teams in the nation. Day two of the Ken O'Brien Pre-Conference Meet takes place Sunday.
