Levy Recipient of Nellie Pratt Elliot Award as Top Female Athlete

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Mia Levy of the Yale women's crew team is the recipient of the 2025 Nellie Pratt Elliot Award, the most prestigious athletic award given to a senior female at Yale.

The Nellie Pratt Elliot Award goes to the senior woman whose excellence in the field of athletics and in her life at Yale best represents the ideals of sportsmanship and Yale tradition. It is awarded in memory of Nellie Pratt Elliot, who was an assistant director of undergraduate admissions at Yale for 46 years.

The award was conferred on Sunday, May 18, as part of Class Day, a Yale College celebration and tradition that dates to the 19th century.

Named the 2024-25 team captain, Levy entered the upcoming season as one of the most decorated and consistent performers in collegiate rowing. Tabbed a 2024-25 CRCA Athlete to Watch, she has raced primarily in the No. 6 seat of the first varsity eight, helping lead the boat to wins over all spring opponents, including Michigan, Rutgers, No. 10 Syracuse, Cornell, Dartmouth, No. 4 Princeton, and Radcliffe.

In 2024, she was recognized as a CRCA Athlete of the Year Finalist, a First Team CRCA All-American, a First Team All-Ivy selection, and a CRCA Scholar-Athlete. She also earned CSC Academic All-District honors. That same year, she helped the first varsity eight place third at the Ivy League Championship and eighth at the NCAA Championship, marking Yale's sixth straight top-10 finish at nationals.

"In my 27 years with YWC no student athlete has embodied what it means to be a Yale athlete better than Mia Levy. She is a generational talent. Mia's leadership is second to none. Her daily work ethic is unbelievable and inspires her team. She constantly advocates for every one of her teammates," said Will Porter, Friends of YWC Head Coach of Women's Crew.

Her standout 2023 campaign included CRCA All-American honors, Second Team All-Ivy recognition, and a CRCA Scholar-Athlete nod. She sat in the No. 4 seat of the varsity eight that advanced to the grand final and placed sixth at the NCAA Championship.

On the international stage, she was named the 2023 USRowing U23 National Team Female Athlete of the Year after helping Team USA's eight win gold at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships. She also captured gold in the second varsity eight at both the 2022 Ivy League and NCAA Championships, and earlier in her career, won gold with the U.S. women's eight at the 2021 World Rowing Junior Championships, rowing in the five seat.

Levy of Des Moines, Iowa, will graduate with an English degree. She is a member of Silliman College.
