LOUGHBOROUGH, U.K. – On the heels of a standout first year at Yale,
Max Bishop (London, England) represented England at the Loughborough International on Sunday. Bishop placed fourth in the 800m with a time of 1:52.26.
Bishop made an immediate impact in his first season with the Bulldogs, earning the team's Most Outstanding First-Year Award. His time of 1:50.46 in the 800m at the UCF Black & Gold Challenge in March currently ranks him second on the team in that event this season. He also has Yale's third-best 1500m time (3:46.58).
During the indoor season, Bishop was part of Yale's victorious distance medley relay team at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. Bishop ran the 800m leg in 1:51.
Selections for the Loughborough International were announced last Wednesday. The meet is an important one for athletes chasing qualifying standards ahead of this year's World Championships and next year's Commonwealth Games. In addition to England, the 2024 champions, the meet included teams representing Loughborough University, Scotland, Wales, the National Athletics League, and Great Britain and Northern Ireland Under-20s.
England won this year's meet with a total of 98 points.
