Nolan Recker's sixth-place finish in the hammer throw highlighted day one of competition for the Yale men's track and field team at UCF's Black and Gold Challenge in Florida Friday. Recker's mark of 59.01m was just over one meter shy of his PR (60.05m), which ranks No. 2 all-time at Yale. Senior
Jake Sun (54.34m) finished 10th in that event, giving the Bulldogs a pair of top 10 hammer throw performances.
Yale also got a top 10 performance from first-year
Aiden Martinez, who placed ninth in the 400m hurdles (53.11).
The Black and Gold Challenge, which is unscored, includes more than 30 schools from throughout the country. Competition concludes Saturday.
