ORLANDO, Fla. – Junior
Nathan Lebowitz's sixth-place finish in the discus throw highlighted day two of competition at UCF's Black and Gold Challenge in Florida Saturday. Lebowitz's mark of 50.62m was just over two meters away from the second-place mark of 52.86m from Zane Forist, an All-American at Michigan. UMBC's Iosif Papa, also an All-American, won with a mark of 59.86m.
The field events also saw Yale get top 10 performances from junior
Jamaal Darlington (1.96m, 10th) in the high jump and sophomore
Orion Browne (14.85m, 10th) in the triple jump. On the track, sophomore
Connor Hom led the Bulldogs with an eighth-place finish in the 800m run (1:50.60).
Yale had three top 10 performances on the meet's first day Friday, including seniors
Nolan Recker (59.01m, sixth) and
Jake Sun (54.34m, 10th) in the hammer throw and first-year
Aiden Martinez (53.11, ninth) in the 400m hurdles.
The Black and Gold Challenge, which was unscored, included more than 30 schools from throughout the country.
Next weekend Yale splits up for the Raleigh Relays Mar. 26-28 and the UMass Flagship First Mar. 28.
