JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Four members of the Yale men's track and field team competed Friday in NCAA East First Round competition at Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium. This was the final day of competition, with the top 12 in each event advancing to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., in June.
Start times on the track were shifted an hour earlier due to weather.
- Sophomore Nathan Lebowitz finished 10th in his flight (38th overall) in the discus throw with a mark of 50.34m. This was Lebowitz' first time competing at the NCAA East First Round. He was in the same flight as Bulldog alum Matt Appel '24, who was competing for Kentucky as a grad student and finished first in the flight (19th overall).
- Junior Owen Karas competed in the 1500m quarterfinals, finishing in 3:50.02 and placing 24th. This was Karas' second time competing at the NCAA East First Round. He advanced to the quarterfinals and placed 13th a year ago.
- Senior Winslow Atkeson finished seventh in his 3000m steeplechase quarterfinals heat with a time of 8:59.12. He was 26th overall. This was Atkeson's second time competing at the NCAA East First Round. In 2023 he placed 18th.
- Senior Leo Brewer placed 17th in his heat and 28th overall with a time of 14:26.00 in the 5000m semifinals. This was Brewer's first time competing at the NCAA East First Round.
This concludes the outdoor season for the Bulldogs. The NCAA Championships start on Wednesday, June 11 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
