NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Left-handed pitcher and 2024 team captain Reid Easterly has signed a free agent contract with Major League Baseball's Seattle Mariners. 

Easterly played three years for the Bulldogs, racking up 10 wins and five saves over 45 appearances. The Texas native was named First Team All-Ivy in 2023 and was elected as team captain as a senior in 2024. Easterly finished his Yale career with a 3.54 ERA over 185.1 innings pitched. 

Easterly transferred to Duke to complete his graduate year, earning an additional season of eligibility. The lefty was one of the top pitchers on the staff for the Blue Devils, tossing 74.0 innings, while leading the team in ERA, wins, saves, and WHIP. He was named to the All-ACC Third Team as a relief pitcher. 

Easterly joins former teammate Colton Shaw in the Mariners organization. Shaw was drafted by Seattle in the seventh round of the 2025 MLB Draft on July 14. 2023 graduate Quinn Cleary currently serves as Pitching Coordinator for the Mariners.
