NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Seven members of the Yale heavyweight crew team are set to compete for their respective countries at the 2025 World Rowing Under 23 Championships.
The regatta will take place on Lake Malta in Poznan, Poland, from July 23 to July 27.
The Yale rowers and their affiliated countries are:
- Harry Geffen '25 – Great Britain – Men's Eight (8+)
- Ben Mead '28 – Great Britain – Men's Eight (8+)
- John Patton '27 – United States – Coxless Quadruple Sculls (4x)
- Einar Bjorvik '27 – Norway – Coxless Pair (2-)
- Aksel Wergeland '26 – Norway – Coxless Pair (2-)
- Jan Dziedzic '28 – Poland – Coxless Four (4-)
- Marton Hajdu '29 – Hungary – Coxless Four (4-)
The premier event of the year for Under 23 rowers in the classic discipline, the World Rowing Under 23 Championships (WRU23CH) typically draws up to 1,000 competitors from around the world.

Lake Malta is one of the most modern rowing venues in the world. Over the past two decades, it has hosted numerous major international events, including World Rowing Cups in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2024; the European Rowing Championships in 2007, 2015, and 2020; and the World Rowing Championships in 2009.
