Bulldogs Honored with AVCA Team Academic Award

Team honored for 19th straight season

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After its third straight Ivy League title and NCAA appearance, the Yale volleyball program earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for a 19th straight season announced today.

The award, sponsored by INTENT, recognizes year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.  The Bulldogs maintained over a 3.5 team GPA.

Yale continues to excel in the classroom and on the court.  The Bulldogs won the Ivy League title for the sixth time in seven seasons and 14th time overall last fall, and completed the season 19-6 overall.

"We take great pride as a program to represent our university on and off the court," Yale head coach Erin Appleman said.  "Earning this prestigious award the 19th straight season is a testament to the effort our student-athletes put into the academics."

This year 1,450 collegiate and high school volleyball programs earned the award -- a record number for the award.

"It is very exciting to see that the record-setting, on-court successes during the 2024-25 season have extended to the classroom," says AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "The fact that more programs earned the Team Academic Award than ever before is evidence of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their goals as both students and athletes."

The Bulldogs open the 2025 season on Sept. 5 at Villanova.
