Three School Records Fall at Penn Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The Yale women's track and field team competed at the Penn Invitational on Friday at the Ott Center. This one-day meet featured teams from throughout the Northeast, including the Bulldogs' Ivy League rivals Penn and Princeton. The Bulldogs set three school records.

Top-Five Performances:

Distance

The Bulldogs went 1-2 in the mile, with sophomore Zoe Martonfi first (4:49.44) and first-year Phoebe Benun second (4:51.49).
Junior Daniella Henderson won the 3000m with a time of 9:52.13.

Middle-Distance

The Bulldogs had three of the top four in the 800m. Junior Victoria Guerrier won with a time of 2:09.90, just ahead of sophomore Sylvie Sanok Dufallo (2:10.63, a PR). Senior Anna Chamberlin was fourth (2:12.08).

Sprints

Junior Juliette Kosmont broke her own school record in the 60m with a time of 7.42 in the prelims. She then went on to break the record again, posting a time of 7.41 to win the finals. Junior Sophie Spokes placed third with a time of 7.65, a PR for her and sixth on Yale's all-time list.
Junior Gloria Guerrier broke the school record in the 400m with a time of 54.25, finishing first. The previous record, 54.29, was set by Libby McMahon '22 in 2022.

Hurdles

Junior Lucija Grd broke her own school record, and set an Ott Center facility record, in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.35 in the prelims. She went on to win the finals with a time of 8.40. Grd finished ahead of three Princeton hurdlers in the finals, including one (Giselle Kirchner) who was a seventh-place finisher at indoor Heps last year.

Jumps

Senior Makayla White, Yale's captain, placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.49m. Princeton's Alexandra Kelly, the 2023 and 2025 indoor Heps champion in the long jump, was the top finisher among collegians (6.31m).
First-years Shreya Sathiyan and Milla Signorelli tied for fourth in the pole vault (3.62m). They were the top finishers among Ivy League competitors, and the top finishers among first-years in the event.

Throws

Sophomore Anna Siciliano placed third in the shot put (13.97m). That mark puts her third on Yale's all-time list.

Relays

The team of Gloria Guerrier, Spokes, Grd and Victoria Guerrier won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:41.43 that is second-best in school history. The team of sophomore Anjali Yella, sophomore Squirrel Lanz, senior Caroline Glessing and first-year Layni Kaase placed fifth (3:57.67).
