Emmy Pascal (Lorton, Va.) has been named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week. The league announced the award Monday afternoon. This is the fourth time this season a Yale player has earned a weekly award from the league.
Pascal, Yale's captain, leads a Yale defense that ranks No. 1 in the nation in scoring defense (5.89 goals allowed per game). She helped the Bulldogs limit No. 5 Syracuse to six goals Tuesday, then helped Yale to a 10-8 win vs. Brown on Sunday. She is tied for the Ivy League lead in caused turnovers per game (2.22) and is tied for sixth in the league in ground balls per game (2.11).
Pascal is on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for the second season in a row, and she was a preseason All-America pick by both ILWomen and USA Lacrosse. Last year she was named honorable mention USA Lacrosse All-America, first team IWLCA All-Northeast Region and second team All-Ivy League. She was an IWLCA Academic Honor Roll selection.
Pascal is a graduate of St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School.
