NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Following a thrilling upset win over defending national champion No. 9 Cornell on the road—Yale's first win in Ithaca since 2018—
Peter Moynihan and
Ben Friedman from the Yale men's lacrosse team garnered weekly honors from the Ivy League, as announced on Monday afternoon. Moynihan was named Offensive Player of the Week, and Friedman was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.
The weekly honors from the league are the first of both Moynihan's and Friedman's careers.
Moynihan led the Bulldogs, scoring four goals—the most by any player in the game. He opened the game with back-to-back unassisted goals, netted the game-tying goal late in the third quarter, and delivered the game-winning goal with 2:52 remaining, powering Yale's balanced attack that saw eight different scorers.
Friedman was sensational in goal against the Big Red, making 20 saves on 32 shots to lead Yale to the stunning upset. His performance was particularly critical in the second half, as he recorded six saves in both the third and fourth quarters, keeping the Bulldogs in front during the final 30 minutes.
Moynihan, Friedman, and the No. 18 Bulldogs will be back in action at Dartmouth on Saturday, Apr. 4.
