NEW HAVEN, Conn. - James Jones, Joel E. Smilow '54 Head Coach of Men's Basketball, has announced that
Trevor Mullin will serve as captain for the Bulldogs next season.
Â
"Trevor did an outstanding job, imposing his leadership on our program as our junior point guard, said Jones. "I welcome his senior version and I'm looking forward to him taking the next steps as our captain."
Â
Mullin put together a strong junior season for the Bulldogs. The Wellesley, Massachusetts native was one of five Yale players to average double figures, scoring 11.5 points per game. He appeared in all 31 contests, making 30 starts, and reached double digits in 17 games. His standout performance came in a thrilling overtime win over Howard, where he scored a career-high 23 points. Mullin also surpassed the 20-point mark four times, including in both the Ivy Madness semifinal and championship games, earning All-Tournament honors. Serving as the team's point guard, he ranked third on the team with 85 total assists.
Â
"It truly is an honor to be selected as captain, said Mullin. "I've learned a great deal from my previous captains,
Nick Townsend, Mateo Rice, and August Mahoney, and I hope to follow in their footsteps as best I can. I'm grateful to be leading alongside my fellow senior,
Jeannot Basima, and together we will continue striving for the excellence this program has shown in years past. We have a strong group of returners, and we're excited for next season."
