No. 13 Yale Heads to RV Cornell for Regular Season Finale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 13 Yale women's lacrosse team plays at RV Cornell Saturday (3:30 p.m., ESPN+, International Stream, Live Stats). 
 
The Bulldogs
  • Last time out, Yale (12-2, 6-0 Ivy League) beat Harvard 14-13 at Reese Stadium. With the win, the Bulldogs clinched at least a share of the Ivy League title. It is the fourth Ivy title in school history.

  • Junior defender Katie Clare (Bayport, N.Y.) was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. She is the third different Bulldog to earn that particular honor this season, joining senior defender Emmy Pascal (Lorton, Va.) and sophomore goalkeeper Niamh Pfaff (Garden City, N.Y.)
  • Yale honored its six seniors at last Saturday's game – the final home game of the regular season. The team is 56-15 overall and 22-5 in Ivy League games in their time here. They are the winningest class in school history:
  • Six of Yale's final eight opponents are/were ranked or receiving votes in the ILWomen national poll.

  • Yale is ranked No. 3 in the nation in scoring defense (7.00 goals allowed per game). This comes on the heels of a 2025 season in which Yale finished No. 4 nationally in scoring defense (8.80 goals allowed per game) and a 2024 season in which Yale finished No. 3 nationally in scoring defense (8.35 goals allowed per game).
  • Senior defender Emmy Pascal (Lorton, Va.), Yale's captain, has been named one of 25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Award as the best college women's lacrosse player. Pascal is second in the Ivy League in caused turnovers (30) and is tied for third in the Ivy League in ground balls (35). Prior to being chosen as a Tewaaraton Award nominee, she was on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List alongside two other Bulldogs – first-year midfielder Kate Gould (Nyack, N.Y.) and sophomore goalkeeper Niamh Pfaff (Garden City, N.Y.).

Ivy League Tournament
  • Yale has clinched the No. 1 seed in the Ivy League Tournament, which takes place Friday May 1 (two semifinal games) and Sunday May 3 (Ivy League Tournament Championship). The winner of the tournament, which is hosted by the No. 1 seed, earns the Ivy League's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. 
  • The top four teams in the league standings at the end of the regular season make the tournament. With one game left in the regular season this year, the top three seeds have already been determined:
    1. Yale
    2. Penn
    3. Princeton
  • Brown will be the No. 4 seed with either a win at Penn Sunday or a loss by Cornell to Yale on Saturday.
  • Cornell will be the No. 4 seed if it beats Yale Saturday and Penn beats Brown Sunday.

The Series vs. Cornell
  • Yale has won two in a row and four of the last five in the series against Cornell. 
  • The Bulldogs have scored at least 12 goals in each of their last six games against Cornell.
  • The Bulldogs' last trip to Ithaca ended with them celebrating an Ivy League championship, as they beat the Big Red 21-8 on Apr. 20, 2024 to clinch at least a share of the title. They went on to beat Columbia in the regular season finale the following weekend at Reese Stadium to clinch the first 7-0 Ivy League season in school history, earning sole possession of the title.

  • Cornell (8-6, 3-3 Ivy League) has lost three of its last four games – each by two goals or less.
