NEW HAVEN, Conn. – David Anderson '26 and William Sheehan '26 from the Yale men's lacrosse team are taking their talents to the next level, as they were both selections in the 2026 National Lacrosse League draft. Anderson was tabbed by the Georgia Swarm as the ninth pick in the first round, and Sheehan was selected by the Toronto Rock as the 23rd pick in the second round.
 
The Swarm is based in Duluth, Georgia, and have established themselves as a competitive franchise in the National Lacrosse League, highlighted by their 2017 NLL Championship. Since relocating to Georgia, the team has continued to build its presence in the state while developing a strong connection with the local lacrosse community.
 
Anderson is coming off a strong 2026 season in which he appeared in 13 games with six starts, recording five man-up goals and several standout performances. He posted a seven-point game (5G, 2A) against No. 18 Boston University, scored a man-up goal at No. 15 Penn State, and recorded a hat trick—including two man-up goals—against RV UAlbany. He also scored a man-up goal against No. 2 Princeton in the Ivy League semifinals. Over his four-year Yale career, he appeared in 43 games, totaling 69 goals and eight assists for 77 points, including 19 goals in 2025 and 36 goals in 2024. He also earned Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week honors in 2025 and received the Richard Corrigan Award in 2024.
 
The Toronto Rock is based in Toronto, Ontario, and is one of the most successful franchises in the National Lacrosse League, having won seven NLL Championships in 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2011, and 2026. The team has a legacy built on the backs of many NLL Hall of Fame players including Colin Doyle, Bob Watson, and Jim Veltman.
 
Sheehan is coming off a breakout 2026 season in which he played in all 15 games, finishing with 17 goals and tying for the team lead with five man-up goals. He recorded a five-point performance (4G, 1A) in a win at Dartmouth, tallied a hat trick in a victory at Hofstra, and scored in the NCAA First Round at No. 8 Syracuse. He also earned NEILA All-Academic Team honors. Over his four-year career, Sheehan appeared in 37 games, totaling 25 goals and six assists for 31 points. He recorded five goals in 2025 and three points in 2024, while scoring his first career goal in a win over Dartmouth during his freshman season in 2023.
