Yale Falls To Second Straight Ranked
Opponent
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Yale women's soccer team
got to see first hand why fourth-ranked Boston College is one of
the most potent offensive teams in the nation. Five different
players had goals to lead the Eagles to a 7-0 victory over the
Bulldogs at Newton Campus Field. Brooke Knowlton led the way,
tallying her first career hat trick.
Boston College, which has now scored 23 goals in its seven
games, wasted little time getting on the board. Knowlton tallied
her first goal just 5:42 into the contest. Victoria DiMartino made
it 2-0 midway through the first half when her left-footed blast
from 20 yards out found the back of the net.
Yale (1-4) wasn't without chances in the first half. Enma Mullo and Becky Brown both had shots saved by BC goalkeeper Jill
Mastroianni.
The Eagles then put the game away by scoring three goals in a
5:46 stretch early in the second half.
Boston College (6-0-1) finished with a 27-6 edge in shots.
The Eagles were the second straight ranked opponent for the
Bulldogs, who fell 1-0 to No. 14 Duke on Sunday.
Yale returns to the friendly confines of Reese Stadium to host
Sacred Heart on Friday night. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. The
Bulldogs host Syracuse on Sunday at 1 p.m.
