Broughton Leads Yale at NCAA Regional

NEW YORK - Senior Sam Broughton had Yale's top finish, 12th out of 33 competitors in foil, as the men's fencing team competed at the NCAA Northeast Regional at NYU Sunday. Junior Brian Wang finished right behind Broughton in 13th.

In saber competition the Bulldogs had another top-15 finish, as sophomore Reed Srere was 14th out of 34 competitors. Senior captain Hugh O'Cinneide was 16th and sophomore Ian Richards was 27th.

In epee juniors Dillon Lew and Derek Soled were 30th and 33rd, respectively, out of 40 competitors.

Qualifiers for the NCAA Fencing Championships, hosted by Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio, Mar. 19-22, will be announced on Tuesday, Mar. 10.

The Northeast Region will be eligible for eight bids in men's epee and men's foil and nine selections in men's sabre.
