The Bulldogs will be ended their non-conference schedule on a high note.  

Yale won both matches on Saturday in University Park, Pa. -- defeating Ohio and Wake Forest -- without losing a set.  Kelley Wirth and Izzy Simqu were both named to the Penn State Classic All-Tournament Team.

Now off to a 6-3 start, the Bulldogs' only losses have come to stiff competition.  Two losses came against ranked teams (No. 2 Penn State and No. 18 USC) and the other against Arkansas, which is 10-2 overall.

With their first Ivy League match coming up this Friday against Brown in New Haven, the Bulldogs looked sharp on Saturday. In the first match today, the Bulldogs blitzed Ohio and took control of the match almost immediately.  

A day after hitting .371 in the second set against No. 2 Penn State, the Bulldogs hit .371 for the match against Ohio.  The scores of the match were 25-14, 25-18 and 25-14.

The Bulldogs rattled off seven straight points int he first set to take a commanding 18-8 lead.  Simqu (six kills), Tristin Kott (six kills) and Kelsey Crawford (18 assists, six digs and two kills) all had kills during the run, and Kate Swanson served up an ace.  Simqu also started a 5-0 run with a kill to end the second set.

Destiny Daniel had a team-high 10 kills, and was one of six Bulldogs with at least five kills. Daniel hit .500 for the match.

Wirth continued her torrid play, hitting .583 with eight kills and three block assists, while Simqu hit .417.

The hotting hitting continued against Wake Forest, who entered the weekend with an 8-2 mark.

Yale hit .478 in the third set to close out the match in three against the Deacs. The Bulldogs made only two errors in 23 swings with 13 kills to win the set 25-16 and ensure a winning weekend.

Wirth and Simqu went back to back to push Yale's lead to 10-2, and two points later Simqu and Gray Malias combined on block assists.  Malias also had five kills and seven digs for the match. 

The Bulldogs took the second set using a 7-2 after Wake had tied the set at 10-10.  It was Simqu again who added a pair of kills during the spurt.

Simqu had seven kills for the match, hit .455 and added a team-high five block assists. 

In the first set, Kathryn Attar pushed Yale's lead to 15-10 and the Bulldogs never trailed the rest of the way.  Attar had six kills and six digs in the nightcap.
