NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Saturday will be a special day at Reese Stadium. Yale's eight seniors will be honored prior to their final regular season home game. It also could be a historic day. If everything breaks their way, the Bulldogs could clinch the Ivy League title and punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. The opponent is Brown and kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. ESPN+ has the video.
Here are notes on the matchup.
* The eight seniors –
Andrew Bortey, Andrew Carton, Will Emerson, John Leisman, Justin Lobe, Ryan Matteo, Andrew Sady-Kennedy and
Miguel Yuste – have all made outstanding contributions to the Yale soccer program both on and off the field over the last four years.
* With two weekends remaining in the regular season, the Bulldogs sit in first place with 12 points, two in front of Dartmouth. A Yale victory coupled with a Dartmouth loss or tie to Cornell would clinch the Ivy League title for the Bulldogs. Yale could also clinch at least a share of the Ivy title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with a tie, a Dartmouth loss and a tie between Princeton and Penn. The Bulldogs are seeking their first league crown since 2005.
* The Bulldogs moved up to No. 22 in this week's College Soccer News top-30 poll.
* Yale (11-2-2 overall) is seeking to complete a perfect season at Reese. The Bulldogs are 6-0 at home this season.
* The 11 overall wins for Yale are the most since the 1999 team won a school-record 13 games.
* The Bulldogs are seeking the sixth Ivy League crown in school history. The others came in 1956, 1986, 1989, 1991, 2005 (co)).
* Yale is eighth in the nation in goals against average at 0.63.
*
Mark Winhoffer is fifth in the nation in assists per game (0.60). His 10 assists are the fourth most in a season in school history. The school record is 12 set by Craig Yacks in 1997.
* Goalkeeper
Elian Haddock is 17
th in the nation in save percentage (.804).
* Yuste shares the Ivy League lead with seven goals.
