NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Following a season-high team score at home, the Yale gymnastics team once again had a gymnast honored by the ECAC in their weekly awards. Junior
Jacey Baldovino received Coaches' Choice honors.
Baldovino was honored for the first time this season after major high scores at last Saturday's dual meet against RIC. The effort of this individual greatly contributed to the Bulldogs' highest team score this season (192.850).
Baldovino earned Coaches' Choice for her consistency and dominant presence on three events: bars, beam and floor. Last week she posted a major 9.775 as the bar lineup anchor and earned a top-three finish on beam. Her contribution gave Yale enough competitive efforts to be able to tally a team score above the 48.600 team mark. Baldovino excelled on floor with a notable performance, sticking all three landings (9.750).
Baldovino will be a factor on her respective events when the Ivy Classic rolls around mid-February. The Bulldogs hope to build on their momentum to bring home a win at the Don Tonry Invitational this Saturday.
Each week, the ECAC gives out four different honors: Gymnast of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Specialist of the Week and Coaches' Choice Honors. The full ECAC article can be found
