NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale gymnastics team is set to compete at the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) Championships on Saturday, March 21, at Cornell.
The Bulldogs will compete in the evening session (5:00 p.m.) alongside Penn, Brown, and Cornell. Southern Connecticut State, William & Mary, West Chester, and Bridgeport will participate in the morning session.
Yale has finished second to Penn at the GEC Championships in each of the last three seasons. The Bulldogs have performed well throughout the year, topping the 194-point mark in eight of 10 meets this season and surpassing 195 twice. Yale also set a program record on vault during a quad meet at NC State, posting a 48.900.
The Bulldogs placed 11 athletes on All-GEC teams. Leading the way is first year Annie Bilbe, who earned first-team honors on floor. Bilbe has been named GEC Newcomer of the Week six times this season. Sophomores Ellie Kearns and Lauren Burt earned first-team honors on bars and vault, respectively. Senior captain Gigi Sabatini was an All-GEC selection on vault, floor, and all-around.
