Game Notes for Yale
Yale and Harvard, two of the most storied hockey teams in America, meet this Saturday night at 8 at Madison Square Garden in the third edition of Rivalry On Ice. Tickets are available at msg.com and the contest airs live on ESPN+
BULLDOGS
Yale, coming off a come-from-behind, 3-2 OT win at Vermont on Tuesday, is 6-8-0 (4-6-0 ECAC) this year. Sophomore forward
Curtis Hall leads the team with eight goals and nine points over his 10 games. He scored against UVM with 51 seconds left to force OT and then won it in the extra session with a nifty shot. Another sophomore,
Justin Pearson, who set up Hall's game-winner, also has nine points. Senior
Corbin Kaczperski (2.95, .896), the reigning ECAC Goalie of the Month, earned the win in net at Burlington. The Elis are 4-1 over their last five regular-season games.
CRIMSON
Harvard brings a 7-5-2 overall (6-3-1 ECAC) mark to MSG after going 1-1-2 in its last four contests. That included a 3-3 tie at Princeton on Jan. 4 and a 6-1 loss at Quinnipiac the night before, as well as a win and a tie against Arizona State at Irvine, Calif. Harvard has six skaters with double-digit points, including Casey Dornbach (8-11-19), who is not one of the nine NHL draft picks on the roster. The Crimson goaltending has been shared by rookie Mitchell Gibson (2.46, .925) and senior Cameron Gornet (3.15, .909).
SERIES
Yale won the 2014 (5-1) and 2015 (4-1) ROI meetings at MSG, but Harvard has a 145-91-22 overall lead in the series. Yale and Harvard have met in eight different cities since the first on Feb. 26, 1900, in New York, with Yale prevailing 5-4.
