PITTSBURGH, Pa. – It's only natural that
Luke Stevens '20 signed an American Hockey League deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins' organization.
Luke's father, Kevin Stevens, had a pair of stints with the NHL Penguins during a stellar professional career, including a pair of Stanley Cup Championships, and currently works for the club as a special assignment scout.
Now his son, a four-year letterman for the Yale Hockey Team, has an opportunity to play for the organization.
Luke, a 6-foot, 4-inch, 215-pound forward who was a fifth-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes before coming to Yale, had 19 goals and 35 points in his 101 collegiate contests. He helped the Bulldogs win an ECAC Hockey first-round playoff series against Union last March before the rest of the tournament was cancelled.
The deal is with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton club, which also signed Luke's classmate, defenseman
Billy Sweezey, last April. The two also skated together at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, Mass.
