NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale softball team is in the national spotlight as part of its three-game series with Princeton this weekend. Sunday's first game, which is an 11 a.m. first pitch, will be televised nationally on ESPNU. Saturday's single game, also an 11 a.m. start, and Sunday's second game will both be streamed on ESPN+.

Saturday is Yale's Pride Day game, and the first 100 fans receive a free shirt. In addition, Yale Athletics is hosting a clothing drive for transgender students at Yale. Fans and youth teams attending are encouraged to bring clothes to donate, which will be given to the LGBTQ Resource Office and distributed to transgender students on campus.

It's another important weekend for the Bulldogs. Yale sits in fourth place in the Ivy League at 6-6 but is just two games behind the second-place Tigers. Harvard (9-3) is atop the standings, while Dartmouth is in third place at 6-3. Columbia (5-7) and Penn (5-7) are one game behind the Bulldogs. The top two finishers at the end of the regular season meet in the Ivy Playoff series with the winner earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Offense has been a key to Yale's success. The Bulldogs have hit 12 home runs in their 12 Ivy games, which is third in the league, and the production has come from a number of sources. Seven different Bulldogs have homered with first year
Maddie Latta leading the way with three, which is tied for third in the league.

Sam Goodcase is hitting .444 in her 12 Ivy games, which is second in the league. Her .414 overall average is tops in the league, and she enters the weekend riding a six-game hitting streak.

Carolyn Skotz, one of only two Bulldogs to start all 25 games, has reached base in 12 straight games entering the weekend. Overall, Skotz is batting .258 with four doubles and 11 runs scored.

Nicole Conway has seen a majority of the action in the circle for the Bulldogs. She has pitched 42.2 of Yale's 82 innings in Ivy play and leads the staff in ERA (3.28) and wins (4). Latta also has seen regular time in the circle and leads the staff with 27 strikeouts in 33.2 innings of work.

The Bulldogs have been getting off to fast starts, outscoring their Ivy opponents 15-1 in the first inning. In addition, Yale is 4-0 when leading after four innings and 3-1 when homering in a game.

The Tigers (16-13-1 overall) are coming off a 3-0 win and a 3-3 tie with Lehigh on Wednesday. Princeton leads the Ivy League with a .276 overall batting average and has swiped 28 bases which is third in the league. Six Tigers are hitting .300 or better, led by Sophia Marsalo at .355. Allison Ha has a team-best nine doubles, which is tied for the league lead. Princeton has nine home runs on the season. Ali Blanchard has 103 strikeouts in 71.1 innings to lead the pitching staff.
