ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Yale gymnastics team competed in the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships Friday at Cornell's Newman Arena and had three gymnasts qualify for individual event finals.
Lindsay Chia,
Raegan Walker and
Sherry Wang all earned spots with top-notch scores Friday night. The Bulldogs as a team finished third in their session with a score of 194.025, narrowly missing out on the chance to compete in Saturday's team finals. Brown (194.925) and Texas Woman's University (194.700) advanced from the session.

Both Chia and Walker qualified for the vault event finals, with Chia registering the highest vault score in the competition. After a solid Yurchenko full, she earned a 9.850. Walker scored the fourth-highest score in the competition (9.800) after a difficult Yurchenko 1.5. Yale totaled a 48.725 for vault.

Wang and Walker were Yale's qualifiers for the bars. Wang scored a 9.850 after showing perfection in almost all of her handstands. Wang also stuck her difficult full-twisting double back dismount. Walker showed great form on her releases and also stuck her difficult double layout dismount. Yale's team score in the uneven bars (47.900) was hurt by two falls.

Walker continues to show her versatility, qualifying for a third event final with her work on the beam Friday. She had turned heads with her near-perfect 9.900 on the balance beam at the Ivy Classic last month. She continued her impressive run Friday with the fourth-highest score in the entire competition. The team posted a solid 48.825 on the beam.

Chia posted the second-highest score on the floor to earn a final qualification. She started strong with a 1.5 front twist to a split jump, a new pass for her. She stuck her 1.5 twist to punch front landing cold. This performance garnered her a 9.875. Yale posted a 48.575 on floor after one fall.
