NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's track and field team wrapped up the final day of competition at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship in a strong fashion Sunday. The day was highlighted by multiple scoring performances and amazing efforts despite windy conditions. Senior
Kayley DeLay was the star of the show, with a meet record-setting race in the 3k steeplechase and a first-place finish in the 5k. Those efforts earned her the Most Outstanding Track Performer Award.
DeLay cruised to victory in the 3k steeple with a time of 9:53.70, nearly 35 seconds ahead of second place. In the 5k, she navigated a tactical race strategy to win by nearly 100m over her competitors. Her ability to succeed at such a tough double at the conference championship meet further proves that she is one of the best athletes ever to run in the Ivy League.
Also on the track, the women's 4x100m team of senior
Ava Thomas, first year
Dominique Romain, senior
Aliya Boshnak and senior
Sophie Isom secured a point for the team score by placing sixth. In the 1500m, senior
