DURHAM, N.H. – The Yale gymnastics team placed third in a quad meet at New Hampshire Sunday. Yale (192.700) bested the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (191.350) but finished behind first-place Penn (195.025) and host New Hampshire (192.750).
Sarah Wilson stood out, securing the highest score for Yale on all four events and placing second in the all-around (38.925).
Yale had a solid vault set with only one major mistake (47.825). Wilson performed her usual Yurchenko tuck full and placed eighth (9.700) while
Gigi Sabatini performed a full twisting Yurchenko and placed tenth (9.675).
The uneven bars were the team's strongest event (48.675). Wilson once again had the highest score on the team with a 9.800 as she tied for fifth. Sabatini was also the second-best performance on the team on the bars. She placed seventh with a 9.775.
The balance beam (48.175) was the second-strongest event for the Bulldogs. Wilson and
Emma Mangiacapre tied for the highest score on the team (9.675). Wilson had a solid routine with no major bobbles. The highlight of her routine was a backspring to a layout step out. Mangiacapre also stuck the same combination pass.
Yale also had a solid set on floor exercise with only one major mistake (48.025). Wilson tied for sixth with a 9.750. The highlight of her routine was her stuck double pike pass.
Lauren Holt (9.625) had the second-highest scoring routine, with the highlight being a 1.5 twist to a layout.
Yale will face Temple next at the John J. Lee Amphitheater on Sunday Feb. 5.
