NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale gymnastics team posted its second-highest score of the season, 193.600, Sunday afternoon at Lee Amphitheater in a meet vs. Temple. The Owls finished at 194.950.
First year
Gigi Sabatini and senior
Raegan Walker posted Yale's highest scores on vault, 9.725, to tie for fifth. Sophomore
Oren Aviad (9.675) was not far behind. The Bulldogs finished the event with a score of 48.125.
Juniors
Sarah Wilson (9.800, third) and
Sherry Wang (9.725, fourth) were Yale's top finishers on bars. Walker (9.700) tied for sixth. The Bulldogs as a team scored a 48.500, making this their second-best event of the meet.
Sophomore
Claire Qu was the Bulldogs' best finisher on beam, taking fourth with a 9.800. Junior
Emma Mangiacapre and first year
Hana Strause tied for sixth (9.700). The team scored a 48.275.
The Bulldogs concluded the meet on floor, posting their best score of the day (48.700). First year
Megan Brueck led the way with a 9.775 to tie for second. Strause, Wang and Wilson tied for fourth (9.750).
Wilson was the lone all-around competitor, finishing with a 38.175.
Yale's highest score of the season remains the 194.250 the Bulldogs earned at UNC Jan. 23. The Bulldogs host the Tonry Invitational next Sunday at 1:00 p.m., honoring Yale gymnastics legends Barbara and Don Tonry.
