NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior
Sarah Wilson (Alpharetta, Ga.) of the Yale gymnastics team has been named Gymnastics East Conference Gymnast of the Week. The conference announced the award on Wednesday. This is the second time this season Wilson has earned the GEC Gymnast of the Week Award.
At the Maryland Five Meet this past Sunday Wilson jumped back into the all-around position and scored a career high of 38.95. She shined on bars, scoring 9.8 or better for the seventh time this season. On beam Wilson was in a critical position, coming up after a fall. She hit her second-highest score of the season with a 9.7. On floor, Wilson was Yale's highest score of the rotation with a 9.725.
This is the second season for the Gymnastics East Conference, which features eight of the top gymnastics programs on the East Coast: Bridgeport, Brown, Cornell, Penn, Southern Connecticut, West Chester, William & Mary and Yale.
Yale competes at the GEC Championships this Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
