Walker Earns GEC Gymnast of the Year, Performance of the Year

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Senior Raegan Walker (Temecula, Calif.) of the Yale gymnastics team earned a pair of awards Saturday night as the Gymnastics East Conference announced the winners of its six major end of season awards following the conclusion of its championship meet. Walker was named Gymnast of the Year and also earned Performance of the Year.
 
Walker, who won the GEC uneven bars championship Saturday night with a 9.875, has enjoyed a remarkable season. She earned GEC Gymnast of the Week three times, and she scored a 9.950 on bars at the Ivy Classic Feb. 26 to tie the Yale record. Walker scored a 9.850 or better on bars five times this year. 
 
Throughout the year Walker also competed on vault, with a high score of 9.750 Jan. 15, and on beam, with a high score of 9.900 Mar. 5.
 
This is the second straight year Yale has had the GEC Gymnast of the Year. Lindsay Chia '22 won the award last year.
 
Yale placed second at the GEC Championships with a score of 194.200, trailing only first-place Penn (194.925).
