NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale gymnastics team continued its excellent start to the 2026 season, recording a team score of 194.200 to top the University of New Hampshire at the Tonry Invitational on Tuesday evening. The Bulldogs outperformed the Wildcats on beam and bars at home, defeating the visiting team by just 0.050 points.
The Tonry Invitational is named in honor of former coaches Barbara and Don Tonry. Barbara Tonry coached the Yale gymnastics team from its inception in 1973 until 2021. During her tenure, the Bulldogs won 16 Ivy Classic Championships. She also coached 23 ECAC individual champions, 20 Ivy all-around champions, and 92 Ivy event champions. Her husband, Don Tonry, was a former Olympian, NCAA champion gymnast, and Yale men's gymnastics coach from 1962-80.
Notable Performances
- Sophomore Lauren Burt was a standout on vault, recording a score of 9.850, the top mark of the meet. It is also tied for the third-highest score in program history.
- Senior Gigi Sabatini scored a 9.850 on floor, tied for the second-highest mark during her Bulldogs' career.
