NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- First year Annie Bilbe of the Yale gymnastics team has been named the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) Co-Newcomer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday morning. Bilbe shared the accolade with Ananya Patanakul of Penn. 

Bilbe and the Bulldogs competed at their home opener on Sunday against Brown. The first year made an immediate impact for Yale, scoring a 9.625 on vault from the No. 2 position with her tucked Tsukahara full and adding a 9.825 on floor, which placed third overall in the meet. Bilbe entered the floor lineup for the first time this season and delivered a strong performance in both events.

The Yale gymnastics team will host the Tonry Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 25 against the University of New Hampshire.
