NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale women's track and field team impressed at home on Sunday at the annual Yale Springtime Invitational.
Leading the team were
Kalei Memmer,
Ella Mainwaring Foster and
Dominique Romain, who stormed to victories in the discus throw, 400m and long jump respectively. Memmer's 43.37m represented a new PR as the Bulldogs enjoyed a 1-2 finish with
Maria Leskovec in 38.96m. It wasn't Yale's only 1-2 of the day, though, as Mainwaring Foster and
Mira Thakur powered away in times of 56.88 and 57.52 respectively in the 400m, and Romain and
Caroline Glessing secured a strong 1-2 punch of their own thanks to impressive jumps of 5.92m and 5.45m. Mainwaring Foster and Thakur later doubled back in the 200m alongside teammate
Sabrina Mellinghoff, as they went 2-3-4 in times of 25.73, 25.80 and 26.03. Elsewhere in the sprints,
Larissa Giles placed seventh in the 100m after a 12.88 clocking.
In the middle distance,
Anna Chamberlin and
Arielle Moore were almost inseparable as the came home in times of 2:17.91 and 2:18.09 to place fourth and sixth. Meanwhile, teammate
Charlotte Whitehurst finished strongly in the 1500m as she ran 4:44.91 for third place. Finally,
Bharathi Subbiah and
Kiera Suh performed well in the triple jump, with Subbiah narrowly missing her PR in 11.50m for third and Suh placing fifth, her 11.12m being a new PR.
After a busy few weeks of competition, the Bulldogs now turn their attention to the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, which begin next Saturday.
