STANFORD, Calif. — The Yale women's sailing team won the Intercollegiate College Sailing Association (ICSA) Women's Team Race National Championships at Stanford this weekend. The victory solidified not only the 2023 ICSA Team Race National title, but also the Ivy League Championship. This is the second-straight national title and the second Ivy title in a row, making them the only team to ever win the championship, which originated last year.
The Bulldogs dominated all weekend. On Saturday, the Elis faced changing conditions. The breeze began around 5-10 knots, before building to around 8-12 in the middle of the day and eventually reaching upwards of 15 knots. Despite these varied wind levels, Yale was unstoppable, winning all 11 of the first round robin match ups. On Sunday, the Bulldogs continued their streak of excellence, winning all five of their second round sail-offs. This spectacular undefeated run allowed Yale to progress comfortably to the final four, where a 2-1 record with a loss to Stanford was enough to secure the women the championship title.
The championship team included skippers
Carmen Cowles,
Emma Cowles, and
Mia Nicolosi, and crews
Anisha Arcot,
Carmen Berg,
Ximena Escobar,
