Meeks Places Second at USAG Collegiate National Championships

DENTON, Texas – Senior Riley Meeks punctuated her Yale career in a celebratory manner Saturday at Kitty Magee Arena in Pioneers Hall as she placed second in the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Individual Finals on the balance beam. The day also included Sherry Wang tying for fourth on vault and Sarah Wilson tying for 10th on floor.

Meeks scored a career-high 9.875 with a near-perfect routine. They was only a slight adjustment in her back handspring layout stepout. Her side aerial was solid with no bobbles, as was her switch leap and split series. Her gainer pike was stuck cold.
Lindenwood's Nya Kraus claimed the national championship on beam with a score of 9.888, just .013 ahead of Meeks.

Wang tied for fourth on vault with a 9.750. She performed a Yurchenko full with a small step back and a little pike in her form.

On floor, Wilson secured a score of 9.738 after a solid routine. Her passes consisted of a 1.5 to layout and a double pike. She had strong landings on both and hit the difficult ring position. She also performed an eye-catching dive roll.

The Bulldogs thus conclude a memorable season, highlighted by a second-place GEC Championship finish.
