NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Isabelle Fox, who helped Illinois State win the Midwest Independent Conference championship and send two gymnasts to the NCAA Norman Regional last season as a volunteer assistant coach, has joined the Yale gymnastics staff as an assistant coach.
Andy Leis, Yale's head coach, announced the hiring Monday.
"I am very excited to welcome Isabelle Fox to the Bulldog family as the new assistant coach of Yale Gymnastics," said Leis. "Isabelle brings a solid background in gymnastics with her from her time as a collegiate gymnast and volunteer coach at the University of Alaska and Illinois State University. Her passion and energy will be a great addition to our team and our goals this upcoming season. Each conversation I have had with her I can see how excited she is to get to work in helping us to provide an exceptional student-athlete experience here at Yale University. I am confident she will make an immediate impact with YGT. Go Bulldogs!"
Fox competed for the Redbirds for two seasons before transitioning to her role as coach this past season while earning her Master's degree. In her senior year, 2022, she earned second team All-MIC honors in the all-around, finishing fifth overall at the MIC Championship. In 2021 she was first team All-MIC in the all-around and second team All-MIC on beam, floor and vault. She was a WCGA Scholastic All-America honoree in both seasons.
Prior to joining the Redbirds Fox competed for three seasons at Alaska Anchorage, where she was first team All-MPSF twice (on floor in 2020 and in all-around in 2019) and second team All-MPSF six times (on vault in 2020, 2019 and 2018; on floor in 2019 and 2018 and in all-around in 2018). In 2018 she became the first Seawolf to be voted MPSF Freshman of the Year. She was also a two-time MPSF All-Academic Team honoree, and was named Team MVP in 2020.
Fox is a native of Houston, Texas, and graduated from Memorial High School. She competed for Flips Gymnastics and Cypress Academy of Gymnastics.
"I am so grateful for this opportunity and the trust that has been placed in me! I am eager to bring my passion for the sport of gymnastics to Yale, and I am committed to fostering a positive experience for the women in the athletics community," said Fox. "I look forward to getting to work with the incredible student-athletes and coaching staff of Yale Gymnastics and achieve great things with this team. Go Bulldogs!"
