WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Yale gymnastics team opened the 2024 season with a fourth-place finish at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational hosted by George Washington University. The Bulldogs performed well at the five-team event, registering a score of 193.3250, the second-highest total in a season opener in program history. Sophomore
Gigi Sabatini took home the all-around title at the event.
Penn came in first in the event (195.2750) followed by George Washington (195.0250), Temple (194.1000), Yale, and Cornell (192.8500).
Sabatini finished with an all-around score of 38.8250 and was the Bulldogs' top performer in the vault. She also tied with
Emma Mangiacapre for the team's highest score in the beam at 9.8250.
Senior
Sarah Wilson was outstanding on the bars, recording a score of 9.8000, tied with Skyelar Kerico of Penn and Sarah Stalling of Temple for the best score at the meet.
Three first years made their collegiate debut at the meet.
Lily Aucoin competed in the vault and the bars.
Chloe DeJoy also participated on the uneven bars and in the floor exercise.
Ella Tashjian was the Bulldogs' top performer in the floor exercise with a score of 9.8250. She also competed on the beam.
The Bulldogs will travel to Long Island on Sunday, Jan. 21 for a quad-meet with LIU, New Hampshire and Southern Connecticut.
