NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Four Bulldogs have been named to USA Lacrosse Magazine's Preseason All-America team. Attack Matt Brandau earned second team recognition, short stick defensive midfielder Patrick Hackler was selected to the third team and attack Chris Lyons and long stick midfielder Jack Stuzin were named honorable mention.

Brandau, who will begin the 2024 season with 154 career goals and 105 career assists, which are both third in school history, and 259 career points, which is second all-time at Yale, is a two-time first team All-Ivy selection and was the New England Player of the Year in 2023.

Hackler, the team captain, has appeared in 32 games in his career. He tallied five assists last spring, including two in the victory over Cornell in the Ivy League Tournament.

Lyons finished second in the nation in goals per game (4.12) last year, and his 62 goals tied for the second most in a season in school history and were the most ever by a sophomore at Yale.

Stuzin was a first team All-Ivy selection last spring after finishing third in the Ivy League in caused turnovers (1.40 per game).

The All-America teams are selected by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors with input from coaches around the country.

The Bulldogs, who are ranked No. 10 in the USA Lacrosse preseason national poll, open the season on Feb. 17 against Villanova at Reese Stadium.
