Mull Named Captain of Yale Softball

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior SJ Mull has been named the new captain for Yale Softball, as announced by Head Coach Laura Ricciardone.

"I am thrilled to have SJ as our captain this year," said Ricciardone. "She embodies everything it means to wear the Y and be a Yale Softball player and has every day of her career here."

Mull has been a vital member of the softball program since stepping foot on campus in the fall of 2021. In her career, she has played in 79 games for the Bulldogs, serving as a solid presence in the outfield. In her junior year, Mull suffered a season-ending injury in the midst of a breakout season but remained a core member of veteran leadership. "Being a stellar leader isn't something she does, it's who she is at her core," Ricciardone continued. "We're better for having her as a Bulldog and our captain."

"It is an incredible honor and privilege to be elected captain by my teammates," said Mull on the appointment. I'm grateful every day that I get to wear the Yale uniform, and I'm reminded of the immense pride and tradition that comes with representing this university. Yale Softball is built on strong leadership across the program, and I'm excited to continue to help foster a winning culture in New Haven."

Mull and company won their first Ivy League regular season championship since 1993 and are still in pursuit of more. "Team 46 is laser focused on bringing an Ivy League Championship to Yale and earning a NCAA Tournament berth," exclaimed Mull.
