Kirschner Tabbed Captain for 2025 Season

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sarah Martinez, Loring Family Head Coach, has announced that rising senior Ashley Kirschner has been named the next captain of Yale Women's Soccer.

"I am thrilled for Ashley. She has been an empathetic leader since the day she arrived, and I am excited to see her leadership continue to blossom in this prestigious role," said Martinez. "She has an ability to connect with people and I have no doubt will be an easy person for others to follow. I look forward to working alongside Ashley and empowering her as we continue to elevate our program."

Kirschner was an important member of Yale's offensive depth. This season, she played in 15 of Yale's 16 games and picked up a goal and pair of assists.

"I am so excited and honored to be chosen to lead our team next season," said Kirschner. "We know that we did not accomplish everything we set out to last season, but I know this upcoming group is ready to change that narrative. The growth and joy within our program would not be the same without the graduating classes that have come before us, but this group is ready to do something special. I feel so blessed to wear the Yale jersey and be surrounded by a team full of incredible and powerful young women who believe in me and have equipped me to lead them."

In her career, Kirschner has appeared in 37 games and has recorded four goals, four assists, and 38 shots through 1,150 minutes played.
