Another School Record for Leskovec; Bulldogs Compete at Springtime Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale women's track and field team competed at the Yale Springtime Invitational on Sunday. The Bulldogs made the most of the home advantage as they performed well across the board.

The Bulldogs:
  • The day began in exciting fashion as Maria Leskovec threw an impressive new school record in the hammer throw. Her mark of 55.36m gave her a dominant victory of the rest of the field, which included teammates Kalei Memmer, Charlie Williams, Ivy Pete and Makayla Harris. Leskovec set the school record indoors in the weight throw eariler this year.
  • Harris also competed in the shot put, where she placed sixth, alongside Emma Peretti in second with a 12.59m throw and Bella Bergloff in third with an 11.95m effort.
  • Many of them later doubled back in the discus throw, with Bergloff again placing third thanks to a 42.26m throw. Memmer placed fourth, with Leskovec in sixth and Peretti in seventh.
  • Yale also tasted victory in the long jump as Caroline Glessing secured an exciting win thanks to a 5.41m leap. Kiera Suh was also in action for the Bulldogs. Meanwhile, in the pole vault it was Eileen Yang who took the win in 3.85m.
  • The winning feeling continued in the middle distance events as Daniella Henderson held on to take first in a new PR of 2:13.49. Anna Chamberlin was right behind in 2:14.23, with Cara Joyce running 2:18.10 and Arielle Moore in 2:21.49. In the 1500m, Ruby Barton went 4:44.29 for third and Priya Gangadharan ran 4:46.48 for fourth, with Marina Carlos' 5:01.03 PR placing her 13th.
  • In the 100m, Makayla White placed second in 12.23 while Larissa Giles came fifth in 12.53. Giles came back later on in the 200m, running a PR of 25.94 in seventh. Ella Mainwaring Foster placed third in 25.37 and Bridget Vitu came fourth in 25.60, while Lola Isom was also in action. Mainwaring Foster returned to run the 400m, where her 56.38 PR placed her second.
