Collignon, Pascal and Vaughn Earn IWLCA All-America Honors

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Three players who helped the No. 6 Yale women's lacrosse team to an Ivy League Championship, an Ivy League Tournament Championship and a pair of wins in the NCAA Tournament have been honored by the IWLCA as All-Americans. The IWLCA announced the awards Thursday.

Yale's honorees were:

Second Team All-America Third Team All-America
This represents the most IWLCA All-Americans in a season for Yale since 2004, when Miles Whitman '04 earned first-team recognition and Jenn Kessel '04 and Sophie Melniker '04 were third-team selections.

All three Bulldogs had been named IWLCA All-Northeast Region earlier this month, setting the stage for their All-America honors.

Yale and Penn were the only Ivy League schools represented on the All-America list. Each school had three honorees.

Vaughn had already earned All-America honors from ILWomen (second team) and USA Lacrosse (third team) this year. She was named Ivy League Midfielder of the Year, becoming the first Yale player to win one of the Ivy League's major annual awards since Lauren Taylor '08 was named Ivy League Player of the Year in 2007. She also was a unanimous first team All-Ivy selection.

Vaughn has earned first team All-Ivy recognition in each of her first three seasons. This year she was the only player in the league with 30+ goals, 55+ points, 30+ ground balls, 25+ caused turnovers and 50+ draw controls.

Vaughn led the Bulldogs in caused turnovers (26). She was second on the team in assists (23), points (55) and ground balls (33). She was third on the team in goals (32) and draw controls (53).

Vaughn was named IWLCA National Co-Defensive Player of the Week Apr. 16 and was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week twice. She is a graduate of Concord-Carlisle High.

Like Vaughn, Collignon had already earned All-America honors from ILWomen and USA Lacrosse this year (honorable mention from both). She tied for the Ivy League lead in goals with 67, the second-best single season total in Yale history. She was a unanimous first team All-Ivy League pick for the second year in a row.

Collignon led Yale in goals, points (71) and draw controls (74) en route to earning the Bowditch Award as team MVP. She was seventh in the Ivy League in draw controls per game (3.70).

Earlier this year, for the second season in a row, Collignon was named to the Tewaaraton Award Women's Watch List and was an Honorable Mention ILWomen Midseason All-American. She was a preseason All-America selection by ILWomen and USA Lacrosse. Last year she was an honorable mention Inside Lacrosse All-American and was named second team IWLCA All-Northeast Region.

Collignon is a graduate of Hinsdale Central High.

This is the first All-America honor for Pascal, who was named first team All-Ivy at the end of April. She was one of the leaders of a Yale defense that ranks fifth in the nation in scoring defense (8.35). Pascal was also a key part of Yale's clears, and the Bulldogs currently rank second nationally in clearing percentage (.943).

Pascal established career highs in caused turnovers (15) and ground balls (22) this season. She was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week Mar. 25 after registering four caused turnovers in the Bulldogs' win at Dartmouth. She has started 36 of the 37 games in her two seasons at Yale.

Pascal is a graduate of St. Stephens and St. Agnes School.

The IWLCA announced the All-America teams on Thursday, with 16 student-athletes earning first-team honors, 16 earning second-team honors and 16 earning third-team honors.
