NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Five Yale baseball players have been named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators (CSC): first baseman
Alec Atkinson, relief pitcher
Tate Evans, third baseman
Davis Hanson, shortstop
Jeff Pierantoni, and second baseman
Jake Williams. CSC announced the awards on Tuesday.
Atkinson, an economics major, led the team with a .338 batting average and 19 stolen bases.
Evans, a statistics and data science major, was a fantastic relief option for the Bulldogs this season, pitching to a 2.92 ERA while recording six saves.
Hanson was one of the biggest offensive threats for Yale while manning the hot corner. The sophomore hit .288 while leading the team in home runs (9), doubles (11), RBI (34) and slugging percentage (.536).
Pierantoni, a history major, was named to the CSC All-District team for the second consecutive season. The shortstop batted .277 and led the Bulldogs with 33 runs scored.
Williams, an economics major, started 40 games at second base and ranked in the top five on the team in almost every offensive category.
All five student-athletes are expected to be back next season.
