Bulldogs Compete at River Hawk Invitational

Keeran Murray (shown here) ran 4:13.56 in the mile.
BOSTON – The Yale men's track and field team wrapped up their day of competition at UMass Lowell's River Hawk Invitational Friday. The TRACK at new balance always provides an opportunity for fast times and good performances.

The Meet:
  • Full results can be found here.
  • The day kicked off with a win in the weight throw for junior Nolan Recker. His mark of 20.34m was good enough to best the field by nearly one full meter. Junior Jake Sun threw well to place eighth. Recker returned for the shot put, where he placed seventh.
  • In the long jump junior Isiah Udofia had a solid day to jump 6.80m, placing fourth. Junior Brian Di Bassinga also jumped, placing down a mark of 6.37m. Di Bassinga doubled back for the triple jump, where he placed fourth with a jump of 13.97m.
  • On the track the sprinters started with the 60m. Senior James Grindle and sophomore Lucas Mylon both ran 7.11.
  • In the mile first year Keeran Murray had an excellent debut over this distance, running 4:13 to place third in his heat. Junior Alex Mader fought hard to come home with a time of 4:21.
  • Mylon returned in the 400 meters to place third in his heat in a sub 50 clocking. Sophomore Finnegan Quinn placed first in his heat with a time of 50.23.
  • The long sprinters performed well in the 500 meters. Junior Andrew Farr placed third overall in 1:04.72. Close behind was senior Simon Jupp in fourth overall, running 1:04.99. Sophomore Antonio Bravo had a busy day, running 1:06 in the 500m before returning for the 200 meters.
  • The long-distance athletes tested themselves over the 3k distance. First year Matthew Schutzbank was the first Bulldog home, running 8:32. Sophomore Caden Montini was close behind, running 8:34. Going from the third heat sophomore Jack Diaz ran 8:49 to place eighth in his heat. Sophomore Benny Seidman narrowly missed out on the win in his heat, placing second in 8:54.

Up next:
  • The busy schedule continues for the Bulldogs with two meets taking place next week on Feb. 1. The John Thomas Terrier Classic at BU will be an opportunity for the distance group to chase down school records on the notoriously quick BU track. Closer to home, the Coach Greg Roy-al Rumble hosted by UConn is sure to provide the sprinters and throwers a great opportunity to show their talent.
