Strong Performances from Bulldogs at Mark Young Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Under mostly sunny skies, the Yale women's track and field team delivered strong performances at the Mark Young Invitational in New Haven Saturday. The Bulldogs competed across throws, sprints, middle distance and distance events, closing out the meet with several personal bests. Full results are available here.

The Bulldogs:
  • The women's 1500m featured a thrilling finish between sophomores Daniella Henderson and Kalista Villatoro. Henderson, leading the final three laps, secured the win in a personal best of 4:35.27. Villatoro followed closely behind in 4:35.30, also a PR. Senior Kylie Goldfarb took fourth with a season-best 4:41.83.
  • Sophomore Sophie Spokes ran a personal best of 25.04 in the 200m (+1.8 m/s), placing sixth overall. First year Anjali Yella shined in the sprints, winning the 400m in a personal best of 58.04 and doubling back with another PR of 25.29 in the 200m.
  • Yale dominated the hammer throw, claiming first, third and fourth place. Junior Ivy Pete took the win with a mark of 48.58m, followed by first year Hannah Graham at 46.13m and junior Charlie Williams at 46.04m. 
  • Senior Kalei Memmer claimed victory in the discus with a standout throw of 41.44m. 
  • In the triple jump, sophomore Alexandra Bonn earned second with a season-best of 11.44m.
  • On the track, junior Casia Provencal took second in the 100m hurdles, finishing in 14.83 seconds with a +1.9 m/s wind—just off her personal record. 
  • First year Sylvie Sanok Dufallo ran a strong 800m, placing second in 2:13.57.
  • In the long jump, junior Caroline Glessing came within 0.05m of her personal best, landing 5.43m on her sixth and final attempt.

Up Next:
  • Next week, members of the Yale squad will split between two meets: the Penn Relays in Philadelphia (Apr. 24–26) and the Ken O'Brien Pre-Conference Meet in Amherst, Mass. on Apr. 26.
  • This weekend marks the Bulldogs' final competition before the Outdoor Ivy Heptagonal Championships, which Yale will host at the Cuyler Athletic Complex and Dwyer Track on May 10–11.
